Here I am at some ungodly hour on my Christmas break working on my blog. I got inspired by all the wonderful ones I have been stalking since 5:00 AM. I would love to be able to do this in a more professional manner.
I teach 4th grade this year and I love it! I moved up from 2'nd grade (which I adored) and quite frankly didn't expect to enjoy it this much. I am proud of my class and expect a lot from each one of them.
After the break we are really going into extra high gear. We are going to be delving into nonfictional texts and writing expository nonfiction pieces about hurricanes. In groups or with partners we will be text mapping (which they love!) http://www.textmapping.org/overview.html It has really helped them SEE the text and how all the features inter-relate. I love this project!
We are also going to be working super-hard on our multiplication tables. I have many who can complete 50 problems in 3 minutes or less, but I also have many who cannot even get 10 of them done. I have found some great ideas on Mrs. Hall's blog http://mrshallfabulousinfourth.blogspot.com/ (From whom I have unabashidly "stolen" some great ideas!) We will be using the math stacking game! I will be eating a bunch of Pringles over the holidays.
My goal is to keep this up and add in things I find that may be of help to my fellow workers or others who are interested. I hope to become more creative as I continue this journey!
